Casinos in the metaverse are not like traditional online casinos. You access them as you would at a traditional online casino, but you do so through a persona. Depending on the metaverse the games you can play, the currencies you can pay for and the look and feel varies a lot.
There are many metaverse worlds and new ones are created all the time, some of them have casinos in them that you can visit. The three dimensional casino establishment in the metaverse can look very similar to a land based casino or futuristic and abstract, it all depends on the creator of that specific casino and the physical laws of the Metaverse they are in.
You enter and play in the metaverse casino with your unique character, and you can pick between games like slot machines, roulette, blackjack, dice games, and poker. You bet and win or lose as you would normally when playing at a casino, but here it is only using crypto currency, so far there is no casino accepting traditional fiat money.
It is not completely straightforward to get started playing at a casino in any of the metaverse worlds if you haven’t really been in the crypto sphere before. But don’t worry, we will take it from the top. In this example we will go through how you get started in the Decentraland metaverse, which currently has the biggest number of different casinos.
Crypto currency will be needed for any of the metaverse worlds that you chose to join and what to spend money in. Bitcoin or Ethereum are common crypto currencies to buy as they are accepted on most exchanges and marketplaces. Decentraland uses the crypto currency token “Decentraland” which has the name MANA for short. Three strong options to purchase crypto currency are Bitpanda, Binance and Coinbase, they are all reputable and easy to get started with.
It is common for services and metaverse worlds in the crypto community to have integration with crypto wallets as a form of authentication. Think of it as signing up with Google or Facebook, but it is tied to your crypto funds. Common wallets to use are Metamask, Fortmatic or WalletConnect, where Metamask is by far the most common and the one I would recommend.
In this case we go for the Decentraland metaverse as they have the biggest selection of casinos of different flavour and are deemed to be established and trustworthy. When entering one of the casinos you can easily walk around within the metaverse and enter another.
Decentral Games have created or co-created the casinos that are available in the Vegas City casino district in Decentraland. In those casinos you can play for the “Decentral Games” currency token which has the short name DG.
In Metaverse casinos you can find similar games to what you find in traditional land based casinos. Casino games such as slot machines, roulette, blackjack, poker and proprietary games based on luck and skill are commonly offered. The look and feel and the set of rules may differ from casino to casino.
